Poker: chance or strategy

Poker is in the category of gambling according to some observers even though most experienced players refute this by saying that this game is a strategy game before-everything. A statistical study was conducted in 2009 on the most popular variant of poker, texas holdem. This study showed that only 12% of poker hands played were won by players who have the best combination of cards. This proves that poker is a game that requires strategic techniques and also psychology. Luck is obviously important to consider as in any other game or sport, however it does not seem crucial to win while playing poker.
